2010 Chocolatier Awards

8 March 2010 in Awards, Shows

8FA8DBB3-709F-4BDE-98CB-AE9002E77A53.jpgThey just announced the 2010 Awards for the best chocolatiers and confectioners in America. The Awards are based on the cumulative number of Gold and Silver Awards received by each entrant in the 2009 TasteTV Chocolate Salons in San Francisco, Los Angeles, and Seattle.

Amano won the top award (“Grand Award” ) for which we are very humbled and excited. Thank you to everyone who has supported us over the years and come to the chocolate shows. We have been exceedingly excited and humbled to have won gold for best dark chocolate at all the shows. I keep saying humbled, but we honestly never expected to have this kind of feedback so early in our short history.

Part of what maintains our love of making the chocolate is all the positive feedback from each of you. It’s at these chocolate shows where we can encounter our fans one on one that really keeps the excitement alive when we’re back at the factory making the chocolate.

We’ll be at this year’s San Francisco International Chocolate Salon coming up in just over a week. It’s on March 20 at 10:00 at Fort Mason Center. This show has grown bigger, and bigger each year. I was shocked at the turn out last year and I hear this year is going to be even better with more vendors and people. This is always our favorite event. Partially because San Francisco is one of the great food cities in the nation but also because it was the very first chocolate show we ever attended.

We look forward to seeing you there.

  11. Chocolatier is the general “catch-all” they use for all the categories. However we actually also have a chocolatier working full time for us here at Amano. She’s Rebecca Milikan and was the pastry instructor at The Institute of Culinary Instruction in New York City as well as being a regular competitor on several Food Network pastry competitions. Right now our confections are only available at our factory outlet although we should be expanding into limited wholesale distribution soon. They are fantastic though.
