New Bars Available!
6 April 2009 in New ProductWe’re proud to announce that starting on Thursday (April 6th) we’ll have several new bars available for order. (Both at stores or retail off of our website)
Our first bar is our Montanya 70% bar. It is unlike any chocolate we’ve done before. Each time we taste it we call it a lighthearted nibble because of how it make one feel. The main flavor note is marshmallow with a strong nutty subtext. There’s then a fruity note many describe as apricot.
The cacao for our Montanya bar comes from high in the mountains of Venezuala. It is very unusual as cacao normally doesn’t grow high in the mountains. The plantation the beans are from is reachable only on horseback. The bags of cacao beans are brought out by horse or burro.
I’m extremely excited to offer chocolate with this very rare bean. It is now my second favorite chocolate bar. Only our Cuyagua bar can surpass it for me.
Our next bars are a departure as they are both milk chocolate. We made a milk chocolate that even dark chocolate “snobs” love. Yet they offer a great way for people intimidated by dark chocolate to come to appreciate the many subtle flavors dark chocolate offers. They are the perfect balance between mild and creamy with the flavorful notes I love in our dark chocolate bars.
We looked all over the Americas to find high quality milk that would match the quality of our beans. It was harder than you might think to find the perfect pairing. The blending of our Ocumare beans and the milk we use is simply amazing. I can’t describe how lush and rich it tastes. Our Jembrana milk chocolate is among the very best chocolate that I think we have ever produced.
I’m very proud that we could produce a milk chocolate bar that can live up to the Amano name. Our Ocumare milk won a Silver medal at the London Academy of Chocolate. (Our Jembrana milk unfortunately wasn’t finished in time for the judging, but I think it would have done at least as well if not better)
We’re taking pictures of the bars this week. But you can order now – although we won’t be able to ship until the end of the week.

Where in Salt Lake could a person purchase these new chocolate bars??
I’d guess that most of the places that carry us now will carry the new bars. So I’d expect that Tony Caputo’s, Liberty Heights Fresh, Emigration Market, The Store, and Pirate O’s will all carry them and probably Whole Foods as well. I’m hoping to make a run up to Salt Lake and hand deliver the bars to the stores as soon as we have them all boxed up. That way people can pick them up for Easter. Probably on Friday.
We would really like to try your chocolate. Is there anywhere in the Logan area that sells it? Thanks!
There’s no place in Logan who sells us right now. If you know of a place that sells high end chocolate let us know and we’ll contact them.
There aren’t any… that’s a problem!!! I want to order get some for my wife’s birthday this Sunday how quickly to you ship? If I find somewhere that sells high end chocolate I’ll let you know. Thanks
Most of the stores in Salt Lake City. I know Tony Caputo’s and Liberty Heights Fresh will have it on Friday and I’m contacting other stores like Emigration Market, Pirate-O’s, The Store and Whole Foods. I can’t comment on when other stores will have them. Since Wednesday shipping is already over your only shipping choice would be FedEx next day which is fairly expensive. So if you can make it into Salt Lake that would be your best bet.
Any chance they’ll be 10 packs and combo packs available soon? Living in Indiana, much better to buy in bulk.
Do you know if chocosphere (portland, OR) is going to be carrying the new bars? Thanks
Hi Brian, we just shipped off a large order to Chocosphere. So yes, they are carrying it.
John, there will be. I was hoping that our photographs of the bars would be done in time but I’ll be updating that page today. I’ve got it 90% done.
I’ve been searching all over for a vendor in Provo or Orem. It seems impossible that there isn’t even one considering the chocolate is made here. All the places that used to sell it seem to be out of business. Any help?
Is there any store in Orem that carries your chocolate?
Hi Christian, unfortunately there isn’t. Perils of living in the suburbs of SLC. There are a ton of places in SLC that sell us. In the meantime we’re letting people stop by the factory to purchase. So call us at 655-1996 or just stop by between 10 and 4.
Whole Foods is currently working on getting the new bars added into our system. As soon as they’re in we’ll have some at the Sugarhouse store in SLC.
I didn’t see a reply to the previous question if you have a combo package that allows one to sample all or a majority of your chocolate bars?
I assume these can be purchased online?
Thank you.
Yes, our variety pack includes all our bars except for the Montanya. (We exclude the Montanya because it is a more expensive bar due to the rarity of the beans — and not everyone wants that in a variety pack) If you order a variety pack and then two extra bars you get free shipping as well.
Whole Foods in Sugarhouse is now carrying all 3 bars.
I was just in the Sugarhouse Whole Foods on Monday, and they had no Amano Bars. Very dissapointing. Any word on when they will have some in?
I’ll give them a call Bob. Thanks for letting us know.
