Salt Lake City a Culinary Destination?
24 October 2008 in Magazines, UtahForbes recently picked Salt Lake City as one of “America’s up-and-coming food capitals.” They didn’t mention us by name, but we’d like to think we’re helping change the reputation of Utah. Park City Utah with its great ski resorts has always had great restaurants. But there’s a definite drive by many small artisanal food makers to make Utah a destination for food.

As a frequent visitor to SLC, I am wondering if you have a store in the area? Or, is the retail store entirely online?
Hi Wynn, we don’t have a retail outlet. Just the factory which doesn’t have a sign. (We’re just not set up for tours and kept having people stop by while we were in the middle of making chocolate and didn’t have any moments to spare)
However up in Salt Lake almost everyone carries us. Tony Caputo’s, Liberty Heights Fresh, The Store (in Halladay), Pirate-O’s, Whole Foods, Emigration Market and probably a few others I’m forgetting.
You could hire a dedicated tour guide. I bet you could find someone willing to work for very little right now, since jobs are so scarce. And when they weren’t giving tours, they could double as an extra set of hands around the factory.
Are there stores in the Provo/Orem area that carry Amano Chocolate?
Not right now Joyce. You can stop by our factory and pick some up here if you would like. (496S 1325W Orem) There are local restaurants that use our chocolate but there aren’t any really nice gourmet grocery stores in the area. (I keep hoping someone will open one) So right now we’re just in the SLC area.
